Senior Nutrition Programs

The Federal Older American’s Act provides funding to Area Agencies on Aging to offer Senior Nutrition Programs.

O3A contracts with providers to offer Congregate and Home Delivered Meals in Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson and Pacific Counties.

Congregate Meals provide a welcoming and pleasant setting where people aged 60 and older, (and other eligible persons), can gather for a hot, nutritious meal and good conversation. Meals are typically hosted at senior or community centers with menus approved by a registered dietician, ensuring they are nutritionally balanced. Donations in any amount are welcome.

Home Delivered Meals, sometimes referred to as Meals on Wheels, deliver nutritionally balanced meals during the day, or semi-weekly, to homebound persons- persons with disabilities and seniors who have limited mobility, or are unable to shop and cook.

If you are interested in learning more about Congregate Meal locations or Home Delivered Meals, please visit Coastal Community Action Programs or call 360-533-5100 and ask for the Senior Nutrition Coordinator.

Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Programs

O3A has the ability to offer fresh fruit, vegetables, and honey to lower-income seniors while supporting local farmers through Washington State’s Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, (SFMNP). The program is available June to October each year. The program offers eligible participants the ability to use a prepaid Electronic Debit Card at approved Farmers Markets in Clallam and Jefferson counties. For eligible participants in Grays Harbor and Pacific counties, bulk produce is purchased from qualified farmers and distributed by Coastal Community Action Program’s Senior Nutrition Program.
